Woman faces felony charges

An 18-year-old from Fairbury was arrested earlier this week after allegedly forcing her way into an apartment on east Columbia Street, damaging a vehicle and kicking a police officer.

Fairbury Police report Aniya Young damaged a window on Tuesday to gain entry and once inside, took a knife before exiting the apartment and causing between $7,000 and $8,000 of damage to a parked vehicle belonging to the tenant. Damage reportedly consisted of puncturing tires and causing deep scratches across the entire vehicle.

Police say while being placed under arrest, Young spat on an officer and kicked another officer.

Young was charged in Livingston County Court Wednesday with two counts of aggravated battery, which are Class 2 felonies, and one count of criminal damage to property, a Class 4 felony. Another court hearing is set for June.
