A statement has been released to parents and guardians in the Prairie Central school district in response to a video circulating which appears to show a bus driver becoming drowsy behind the wheel.
Prairie Central Superintendent Paula Crane noted the safety of children comes first and the district has taken measures ensuring students have safe transportation to and from school.
“At this time, the driver has been assigned an alternate role in the transportation department,” Crane states in the letter dated Nov. 17.
Crane said they have been made aware of rumors circulating about the situation and employee involved.
“Understanding that we cannot control what is posted on social media or communicated to news stations, we ask for grace as we continue to make decisions based upon the verifiable information that is being collected.”
The video was posted by someone to social media this week who claimed it was recorded by a student last Friday.
