Three student athletes at Prairie Central High School participated in a signing ceremony Monday afternoon for the colleges they plan to attend.
Adri Cottrell plans to golf at Joliet Junior College while studying agriculture education before transferring to Illinois State University.
“I’ve played golf since my freshman year of high school,” said Cottrell. “When I got done my senior year, I just decided that I wasn’t really ready to be done but I didn’t want to go on and play super competitive.”
JJC told Cottrell they would be excited to have her on the team. She looks forward to competing and working to improve.
“I’m just excited to continue competing at a higher level.”
Caden Addis signed to play baseball at Illinois Wesleyan University next year. He has always liked Wesleyan, referring to it as a great school.
“I wanted to go there to study physical therapy and it was just a matter of waiting for the right time,” Addis told Fairbury News.
After going through some coaching changes, IWU gave Addis an offer which he gladly accepted. Addis has always played baseball and summer ball every year. He says he looks forward to hanging out with friends and meeting new people in addition to playing baseball.
Addis is also excited about his senior year for Prairie Central baseball with a new season starting this week.
Tyler Curl signed to play basketball at Olivet Nazarene University next year. Everything started for Curl when Millikin University first reached out to him last winter followed by more offers this year, resulting in a decision months in the making.
“I was kind of picky on where I wanted to be, keeping it somewhat close but also a high level of basketball because that’s what I want to do – I want to compete,” Curl explained.
Curl plans to study business at Olivet.
