Racing action returns

The weather looks great for opening weekend at the Fairbury Speedway.

Speedway owner and promoter Matt Curl told Fairbury News the track is in fantastic shape after this week’s rains and the anticipated warmer weather.

“I don’t think we’ve had an 80-degree opening night here at the Fairbury Speedway so we are really excited,” Curl said.

Saturday kicks-off the 76th year of racing with a regular night of the weekly FALS Cup racing action. A number of special races are planned throughout the season, according to Curl.

“Our first major special will be May 15 with our spring showcase,” he explained. “We have a number of events throughout the schedule, our biggest one hands down is the Prairie Dirt Classic – our 31st edition at the end of July.”

Racing details regarding specials, reserved tickets, gate information and times are all available online at www.fairburyspeedway.com. There will also be plenty of information released on the social media outlets through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
