Obituary: Schauble




William Paul Schauble, Sr, 85, of Fairbury, passed way at 11:17pm, January 31, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.


His funeral will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Faith Fellowship Church, Fairbury. Pastor Kim Ernst will be officiating. Burial will be in Avoca Township Cemetery, Fairbury.


Visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm, Monday, February 7, 2022, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to SELCAS.


William was born September 11, 1936, in Fairbury, the son of Carl and Harriet (Briggs) Schauble. He married Sally Sparks on March 3, 1957, in Fairbury. She died February 19, 2014.

Surviving are his daughter, Cindy Miller of Fairbury; son, Bill Schauble, Jr of Fairbury; grandchildren, Erin (Ryan) Bachtold, Kim (Danny Jr) Bracken, Leon (Crystal) Miller, Jarrad (Ashleigh) Miller, Cassie (Joe) Kaufman, Jessie Schauble, Tate Schauble, and Marlie Schauble; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Roy (Linda) Schauble of St. Louis, MO, Carl (Jane) Schauble of Ozark, AL, and Jim (Carol) Schauble of Longwood, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.


William owned and operated Schauble Contracting for over 50 years.

He enjoyed 60 years of time spent hunting at his cabin in Shawnee National Forrest. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and being a life member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. William was a member of the Lion’s Club for 46 years.


William and Sally enjoyed their friends through their potluck group that started in 1970 and still meets today.


He loved his coffee time at Dave’s with his friends, and had a special place in his heart for his kids and grandchildren.
