Obituary: Grandon

Pauline Grandon, 101, of Fairbury, passed away at 2:10 am, January 19, 2026, at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Her funeral will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, January 22, 2026, at First United Methodist Church, Fairbury. Pastor Charles Mendoza will be officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 am, Thursday, January 22, 2026, also the church.

Memorials may be made to Fairview Haven Retirement Community or First United Methodist Church, Fairbury.

Pauline was born September 20, 1924, in Wayne County, the daughter of Virgil and Velda (Ellis) Karlee. She married Ira L. Grandon, Jr on August 29, 1948. He died June 23, 2007.

Surviving are her daughter, Valla (Sam) Broquard of Fairbury; grandchildren, Jarrod (Kendra) Broquard of Fairbury, Joseph Broquard of Phoenix, AZ, Elizabeth (Darin) Getty of Fairbury, Rachel (Jason) Myers of Morton, Jordan Broquard of Decatur, and Seth (Ashlee) Broquard of Tremont; and 12 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Linda Grandon, and her sister, Claudine Allison.

Pauline was a member of First United Methodist Church, Fairbury.

Pauline began teaching at the age of 18 with a teacher’s certificate. She then went on to receive her bachelors in 1950 and her masters in education in 1956, from Southern Illinois University. She retired from teaching from Fairbury Cropsey High School in 1983. 

Pauline dedicated her retirement years to beloved grandchildren and enjoying family time.
