Ruth E. Edelman, 90 of Fairbury formerly of Strawn, passed away at 1:32pm, Friday, November 10, 2023 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the Apostolic Christian Church of Forrest, with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow in South Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 pm, Monday, November 13, 2023 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday prior to her funeral at the church in Forrest. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be directed to Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Mrs. Edelman was born June 3, 1933, in Fairbury; a daughter to Benjamin and Naomi (Alt) Steidinger. She married Vernon Dale Edelman on June 4, 1955, in Pontiac. Her husband, Vernon died on October 23, 2006. Her parents, one brother, Warren Steidinger, one sister, Lois Ann Steidinger and brother in law, James Menold also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Warren (Cindy) Edelman of Fairbury; Dennis Edelman, of Strawn; one daughter, Barbara Edelman of Bloomington; three brothers, Arthur Steidinger, Ronald (Lucille) Steidinger both of Fairbury; William Steidinger of Bloomington; one sister, Louise Menold of Sabetha, KS; two granddaughters, Abby (Jason) Schick of Congerville; and Heidi (Joe) Lavallier of Gridley; 1 great grandson and 2 great granddaughters.
Mrs. Edelman was a homemaker and member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Forrest.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the administration and staff at Fairview Haven Retirement Community and Carle BroMenn Hospice for the care given to Ruth over the past 11 months.
