Obituary: Brown


Charles W.R. Brown Jr., 59 of Fairbury, passed away at 7:51 pm, Friday, January 24, 2020 at his residence in Fairbury.


Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration service of Chuck’s life will be held for all friends and family at 7 pm, Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury.


There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, also at the funeral home in Fairbury. A private family graveside inurnment will take place at a later date in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.


Chuck was born October 16, 1960 in Fairbury; the son of Charles William and Betty Jean (Sears) Brown. His parents preceded him in death.


Survivors include his special friend, Barb Rathbun of Fairbury; four sisters, Charlene (Doug) Aaron of Fairbury; Alma Brown, Lisa (David) Polnitz and Lori Brown all of Peoria; several adoring nieces and nephews and a special group of friends who to this day remain close, sharing a bond that is second to none. His character, smile, sense of humor, and dedication to friends and family will be missed by all of us who truly loved him.


Chuck was a 1978 graduate of Fairbury-Cropsey high school, where he excelled in track, baseball, football, and mischief. He was a craftsman by trade; a talented and sought-after bricklayer, and a proud member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union #6.


Chuck was an avid fan of NASCAR, “The Intimidator” #3 Dale Earnhardt, and spending summer Saturday nights at the Fairbury stock car races. Those interested may make a memorial contribution in Chuck’s name to the Fairbury American Legion Speedway.
