Obituary: Beal

Dorothy M. Beal, 91, formerly of Forrest, passed away at 11:01 am on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Carle-BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, IL.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025 at the Chatsworth United Methodist Church with Barb Schlatter officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am prior to the funeral. 

Burial will follow the funeral in Forrest Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Dorothy’s name to the Forrest Fire Department or Southeast Livingston County Ambulance Service (SELCAS). 

Dorothy was born on November 17th, 1933, in Strawn, IL the daughter of Albert and Elma (Stein) Steidinger. She was a graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School in the Class of 1952. Dorothy married Melvin Beal on October 12th, 1952 in Strawn. He preceded her in death on August 29th, 2010.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Mark (Paula) Beal, of Forrest; Todd (Sandy) Beal, of Forrest; Lisa Lowery, of Chatsworth; and Keith (Denise) Beal, of Forrest. She is also survived by her siblings: Kenneth Steidinger, Lila Bartlett, and Ronald “Bump” (Donna) Steidinger. Dorothy is survived by 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, and son-in-law Randy. 

Dorothy was a member of the Forrest Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary of Forrest. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
