Library adds stream service

The popular on-demand film streaming service Hoopla Digital is now available for free at Dominy Memorial Library.

Library card holders can access over 950,000 titles (audiobooks, eBooks, comics, music, movies and TV). Content can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Hoopla Digital app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku.

Hoopla Digital provides online and mobile access to thousands of movies, TV shows, music, eBooks, audiobooks, and comics. With Hoopla Digital, patrons can borrow and instantly stream and download dynamic content with a valid library card. All content is accessible via Hoopla Digital’s mobile app or online at www.hoopladigital.com. Patrons will need their library card and pin number to log-in. Hoopla Digital is a service of Midwest Tape – a trusted partner to public libraries for more than 30 years.

In addition to Hoopla Digital, the library also offers eBook and audiobook services through Axis 360 & Overdrive. Hoopla Digital is a supplement to these services, offering a unique model that allows patrons to borrow content immediately, removing the need to be on a wait list for popular items. Hoopla Digital also supplements the current two platforms by offering movies, TV shows, & music, while the other two platforms currently only offer eBook & audiobook options.

“I am excited to begin offering this service to our patrons,” says library director Amanda Todd. “Our eBook & audiobook demand has tripled within the last couple of years and was accelerated even more with the pandemic this past year. Adding Hoopla Digital will offer even more digital titles and media types to our patrons. I know I have found a couple of titles I was looking for on Hoopla that I couldn’t find on the other two platforms, so I’m excited to be able to expand our offerings to meet our patrons’ needs.”

The number of checkouts on Hoopla Digital will be limited to 5 each month per cardholder. Don’t forget to also check out the library’s other digital options, including Axis 360 & Overdrive (eBooks & audiobooks), Wowbrary (a weekly email alert about the new titles added to the library’s collection), The Blade newspaper archives on the library’s website, and RSA Cat Mobile (where you can search the online catalog or manage your patron account). For assistance using Hoopla Digital or any of the other digital resources at the library, stop in during library hours for staff assistance or check out the resources page on the library’s website, www.dominymemoriallibrary.org.
