Goembel retires as trustee

(The Belle Prairie Township board, left to right, includes the following: Steve Bahler, trustee; Will Travis, road commissioner; Blake Abrahamson, trustee; Norman Harms, supervisor; Rick Goembel, retiring trustee; Danny Harms, trustee; and Phil Kratochvil, clerk)

Rick Goembel of rural Fairbury has achieved a milestone no one in the past half century has achieved.

He retired from being a Belle Prairie Township trustee after 44 years of service. Belle Prairie Township Supervisor Norman Harms presented a plaque and thanked Goembel for his dedication at a previous meeting.

To put this timeline into perspective, Goembel began his tenure as a trustee when bell bottoms were the fashion style, Star Wars was all the rage, and music by the Buggles and AC/DC filled the airwaves.

The Belle Prairie Township board has appointed Corbin Huber to replace Goembel.
