The Prairie Central gym will be open on Saturday (April 29) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for anyone interested in purchasing pieces of wood from the gym floor as the renovation process is underway.
All of the proceeds will go toward the gym renovation. Wood planks are $3 per board and those coming are encouraged to have exact change. Pieces are first-come, first-served and there is a large number of wood planks of various lengths. Visitors should enter through the cafeteria doors.
To maintain safety, the number of people in the gym will be limited and gloves are suggested. No children will be allowed in the gym and high school students will be allowed with parent permission.
Many local residents have expressed interest in obtaining pieces of the old flooring for sentimental reasons. The school spent the past couple of days pulling up the flooring piece by piece.
“Thank you to Mr. Dunahee, Mr. Stork and their students for their help with this project,” said PC Superintendent Paula Crane.
The replacement of the PCHS gym floor begins Monday. This is one of many projects happening within the school district currently.
