The Fairbury Community Fund has reached its fundraising goal of $42,000.

“We are excited about that,” said United Way of Livingston County executive director Deb Howard.

This is the last year it is known as the community fund as United Way will take over January 1. Not much will change, according to Howard.

“Everybody in Fairbury will still get all of the services. I’ll be doing it instead of the Fairbury Community Fund.”

United Way of Livingston County currently funds 16 agencies and will soon fund 20 with the addition of Fairbury.

“When you make a donation to the United Way, you are making a donation for all of those 20 entities,” added Howard.

Representatives from the both the local United Way and Fairbury Community Fund were on hand for the photo opportunity near the fundraising sign on Route 24 Friday morning. While the United Way campaign is ongoing, the next community fund drive starts in June.

Howard thanks Fairbury residents for their recent donations.
