A two-vehicle crash at U.S. Route 24 and Livingston County Road 3350 East in Chatsworth early Friday resulted in the death of a semi driver and the hospitalization of the other driver involved.

State Police report a Ford pickup truck was traveling north on 3350, failed to stop at the intersection with U.S. Route 24 and was struck by a truck-tractor semi-trailer that was traveling east on the highway at approximately 3:05 a.m. The semi drove off the roadway to the left, overturned and caught fire according to police.

Information provided by the Livingston County Coroner’s Office indicated the semi driver, Bailey Beyers, 28, of Forrest, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The pickup driver, whose name has not been released, was reportedly transported by helicopter to a regional hospital.

The intersection was closed for an accident investigation much of the day Friday, finally reopening around 5:30 p.m.

“There is no further information,” said an accident report from Illinois State Police late Friday afternoon.
