Chewy, Little Buddy visit kids

What an exciting time at the Boys & Girls Club of Prairie Central last week.

Not only was it Earth Day, but a celebration of the Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County’s Youth of the Year, Xavier Watson. Xavier competed in the state competition against other Youth of the Years from across the state.

Although he was not named the Illinois State’s Youth of the Year, he represented Livingston County well and our community can be extremely proud of him and he is definitely a winner!

Kam Sallee, Senior Program Director of Boys & Girls Club of Prairie Central said, “We are so proud of what Xavier has accomplished throughout his life and his time with the Club, he exemplifies what we do at the Club each and everyday”.

To celebrate Earth Month and Earth day, Club members have done a variety of activities. From planting flowers out in front of the Club to picking up trash in the park, the members have been engaged and having fun.

On Earth Day, the Club had some special visitors…two baby calves provided by Kelly Kinate, American Family Insurance brightened the day and brought many smiles to the children who’s parents are working daily as essential workers. The members enjoyed feeding the calves and walking them around the parking lot.
