Chamber holds annual meeting

Members of the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce gathered for the group’s annual meeting Monday evening at the Walton Centre in downtown Fairbury.

The 2022 officers include Seth Welch, president along with Katie Wylie and Erin Roth, treasurer. Rebekah Fehr is executive director.

Those named to a three-year term include Seth Welch, Danny Schahrer and Tiffany Yoder. Mary Carter, Scotch Kurtenbach and Rod Kodavatikanti were chosen for a two-year term. Jessica Kilgus, Tanner Ifft and Ryan Fehr are all on for a one-year term. Retiring board members include Kirk Leman, Brett Fehr and Teri Rieger.

Outgoing president Kirk Leman noted since there was no annual meeting last year, this meeting was a combination of the two years. Leman said the BOGO or “buy one, get one,” program worked out well with local businesses. Also, “A Local Taste” was moved to the Fairbury Speedway and went well last September.

“Matt Curl was very good to work with us and welcome us out there,” said Leman.

This year’s Business of the Year honor went to Compass Insurance. Staff from the longtime Chamber member are involved with decorating the downtown gazebo each Christmas.

“We really appreciate them,” stated Leman.

Volunteers of the Year were the community sale auctioneers, Walt Edelman, Dan Grosshans, Harvey Stork, Ross Wettstein, Larry Wettstein and Warren Edelman.
