Bitter cold by weekend

Snow is hauled away from the parking lot to the east of Dave's Monday.

Fairbury city crews and residents were clearing streets, sidewalks and parking lots on Monday morning after snow fell late Saturday night through the day Sunday.

It wasn’t the huge snow some had forecasted but there was plenty of the white stuff blanketing the ground.

The National Weather Service predicts snow and freezing rain on Thursday before switching to all rain later in the day and by the weekend, a polar blast could impact the area with highs only near 8 degrees on Sunday and lows dipping to zero the night before.
