Obituary: BesGrove


Mary Lou BesGrove, 88, Fairbury, died at 12:35 pm Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.


Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 18, 2020 and 10:00 to 10:45 am Wednesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Her funeral will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 19, 2020 also at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. The family memorials be given to the Prairie Central Music Department.


Mrs. BesGrove was born March 8, 1931 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Ray and Rosena Heinke Logan. She married Carroll BesGrove on November 26, 1953 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2017.


Survivors include one son, Greg (Joni) BesGrove, Fairbury, two daughters, Melody (Joe) Clower, Lehigh Acres, FL, Lisa (Jeff) Turchi, Hartford, WI, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Marilynn Logan, Decatur.


She is preceded in death by an infant sister, Eleanor Jean Logan and one brother, Robert Logan.


Mrs. BesGrove received her bachelor of arts degree in music from Millikin University, Decatur. She taught music in public schools for over 30 years, 27 of which were in the Fairbury-Cropsey school district. She had a love for music and she gave piano lessons until the age of 82. Mrs. BesGrove also gave swimming lessons and first aide training at the YWCA, Bloomington and Stafford Swimming pool, Fairbury for many years.


She was a member of the Bloomington Ski Club, Livingston County Teachers Association, Chautauqua literary and scientific circle, and the Order of Eastern Star. She loved traveling having visited the Holy Land, Europe, and Alaska to name a few.
