Farmers and other area residents got an up-close look at the new Nutrien Ag Solutions facility west of Fairbury on Friday.
The ag retailer held an open house and catered lunch on the property, which includes numerous buildings. The dry fertilizer shed on the east end of the lot is quite noticeable when driving by.
“It’s got about 3200-ton capacity,” explained Matt Durdan, Nutrien plant manager.
A shed just to the west of this is used for seed treating while a separate shed handles chemicals with a million gallon UAN tank and four liquid fertilizer tanks. The shop and office are also located nearby.
“We’ll be able to move trucks in and out of here very fast,” Durdan said.
Nutrien moved to the new facility from the middle of town in December. The old location in Fairbury was demolished after the first of the year.
“Efficiency is going to be the name of the game for us so we can stay ahead of all these farmers,” Durdan added.
